What is an IPIX picture/image?

• An IPIX is an interactive, spherical image that offers you a complete field of view, from earth to sky, floor to ceiling, and horizon to horizon.
• The image is a full-environment, 360° X 360° photograph viewable on the Web, stand-alone or from a CD-ROM with the capacity to perform a variety of multimedia functions such as automatic navigation, zooming, playing background music, and linking to text, audio, standard photographs, URLs, video, and other images.

How is an IPIX created and received ?

• To take the photographs a tripod, fisheye lens, rotator and digital camera will be required. If you wish to take the photographs, we can supply these products as part of our service or take the photographs on your behalf.
• You first capture two opposing photographs with the fisheye lens. The rotator ensures that the camera captures a 360° by 180° field of view in each single image. The images will then be sent to us via the Internet and blended together to form an IPIX. The IPIX can then be implanted into a web site or simply sent back over the Internet to yourself.

How large is an IPIX ?

• IPIX images can be output in two different sizes: Quick View (30K-60K) and Standard (180K-280K). The varying file sizes are determined by a compression rate, which can be selected when producing an IPIX.

Will IPIX images work with all browsers?

• You can view IPIX images with all Internet browsers via the free, downloadable IPIX Plug-in available from here.

Which type of camera do I need ?

• IPIX imaging technology supports an increasing number of cameras including the latest models from Nikon and Olympus. Please contact us here for further details.
